Try the Trend: Hi-Low Skirts

I am a little on the fence with hi-low skirts, but I was perusing at Ross a few weeks ago, and I found this skirt on clearance for $8.00, so I thought, why not?!  They are just as comfy and versatile as long maxi's, and this particular one happened to be the perfect height in the front...some of them are a little too short for me in front, but this one worked perfect!

Skirt: Ross, Jacket: Target, Sandals: Gap outlet

Here are some options I am loving:

How fun is this color? It is perfect for spring, and the length is not too short in the front.

Another fun spring color...mint is not getting old for me!  This skirt looks soo comfortable!

I love this fun print...this skirt would be so easy to dress up or keep it casual with some flats.

Love basic black?  This one is perfect for you!

Keeping with the current lace trend, this one is super fun and feminine.

If you can pull off the slit in the front, this skirt is a little more original than the basic hi-low trend.  Super cute with the stripes too!

My favorite one!  Love the bright color, but it is still super simple...a perfect skirt for summer.

Threshold at Target

Have you seen Target's new(ish) home decor line, Threshold?  I am Obsessed!! Target never ceases to amaze me:) No wonder I love that store so much! I love their Threshold line because it is so on trend, and in fact, you can find something for every type of design out there.  Plus they are at very affordable, and we all know that being at Target, they will eventually go on sale too!  I cannot wait for the summer collection to come out on April 21st, but until then, run to your Target and snatch up the last of the current collection, because it is now on sale!!

Here are some of my favorites right now:

These kitchen chalkboard jars are adorable!  I would like all 3 please!

This little stool would be perfect in a bedroom or living room.  And the stripes are perfect.

I am loving this gold stool.  Anything gold is wonderful in my book!  What a perfect little side table this would be.

This yellow mirror would be the perfect pop of color to any room!

I love this arrow pillow...it would be great in a little boy room

Who couldn't use a sunburst clock!?

Perfect color on this cute chevron rug

This rug is also calling my name.  I love the black and cream, plus it looks an awful lot like a much more expensive version at West Elm...(this one is on sale!!)
I think black and white are turning into my favorite color combo.  This shade would look wonderful with this base below...

Can you see it?  Black and gold are such a luxurious combo to me.

This base is so fun and funky...not something you see everyday.  I love it!
This is a perfect neutral pillow that would go with just about any color combo.  Plus the geometric print will give your room and added boost of interest!

I am dying over this little guy! Oh he is so cute...I wish my Target had him.  He would be perfect on any shelf, bookcase, ottoman, mantle...just about anything!  Somebody please take him home:)

You can find all these items here.

Try the Trend: Statement Necklaces

Statement necklaces have been a trend for a few seasons now, but I think they will be here to stay for a bit, so I decided to do a round-up of some I am loving right now.  Obviously, we have seen the bubble necklace all over the place lately, and while I still think it is cute and trendy, I am leaning more toward statement pieces that aren't so common...I like to try and find one that is a little more of a unique piece, one that you don't see everywhere:)  I love how they instantly take your outfit up a notch...add one to just a t-shirt and you instantly have a great look!

Necklace: ForeverJacket: TJ  (old), Pants: Forever, Shoes: Forever (old)

Here are some other statement necklaces that I am loving right now:

I think I need this one!  I love the color!

I love the aztec feel of this one...plus its just the right size.  Not too big, not too small

Another aztec feel, I love these colors together

This little beaut is so cute!  Lacquer and rhinestones? Yes please!

I love the chain link look, plus pink and gold are perfect together!

I love this baby blue color...and for $8? You can't go wrong!

Living Room Makeover...On a Budget!

My sister asked me a little while ago if I would help her fix up her living room a bit.  She just wanted to lighten it up and get a little more modern look in there.  We were on a tight budget, but that doesn't mean you still can't make a big impact!  I think there is a big misconception that you need to spend lots of money to makeover a room in your house.  Oh boy, you do not!  Pinterest is a wonderful resource for inspiration and you can find tons of cheap, easy DIY projects that will add character to your home.

Here are the before pictures:
***For some reason I couldn't make all the pictures big.  Just click on them and it will enlarge them***

And here are the after:

I was able to do everything for under $200...however, she did get the rug and pillows for her birthday.  The rug is from Overstock (by far the best rug prices out there) and the pillows are from Home Goods.  The curtain panels soften up the room and were only $30 for the pair from Target

She already had a super cute paint color on her walls, which is brought out even more now with the lighter colored accessories.

Mirror from TJ

Small mirrors from Target...

I originally was going to buy Ikea Ribba frames to put above her TV, but I found these darling minty green ones at TJ, which turned out perfect in this space!  My sister just took the pictures of her kids and they turned out darling!

Vase on clearance at Gordman's

Her coffee table had its fair share of scratches and had seen better days!  So we decided to spray it this yellow color to pop against all the more mild colors that are in the room

We got rid of her plate rack and put a fun Chalkboard plaque and cute print on the walls in her kitchen

She needed something fun for her table also, and I found this darling tray at Home Goods.  She already had the orchid.

You can't go wrong with fun little rugs to brighten up the space...this one is from Target

Her room is so much brigher and more inviting now!  All of this was done on a bugdet...it is possible to make small changes for small amounts of money, and together they will add up to a big change for your room!  Happy Decorating!!

Try the Trend: Chambray

Chambray is a huge trend lately...in shirts, jackets and even vests!  It is definitely making a comeback.  I grew up wearing, what we called, "levi shirts" in the 90s, and now they are coming back! (actually, denim and chambray are a little different, but they look the same to me!)  I remember trying to match my denim shirt with my jeans as perfectly as I could...well thank goodness that is not the trend anymore!  I was looking for a picture of me in all my denim goodness, but couldn't find one...but I did come across this little gem...

Look how cute my mom is in her "levi shirt".  This is my family around, like 1993?  Love how fashion just recycles the same looks, with just a few tweaks!

I love how versatile they are.  You can wear one with practically anything...dress it up or down, colored jeans or printed.   Just don't try and match the colors to your pants like I used to!

Top: Target, Skirt: Ross, Shoes: Forever Young

Here are some other chambray items that I'm loving:

See how the different shades work well with this look?  I love this top, it has little metal tips on the collar. So cute!!

This little girl chambray dress is adorable

I love how this top has 2 trends in one...floral and chambray!

Another fun top with part chiffon, part chambray

You can never go wrong with a denim jacket.  I still have one from 10 years ago!  This is one of the most versatile pieces you can have in your wardrobe, in my opinion.  Pair it with anything, and it will always work!
