Dresser Makeover

I have been looking for some sort of dresser/sideboard piece to place in our basement under the TV.  I have strictly been looking on KSL (Utah's version of Craigs List), since I didn't want to spend much money at all.  I finally found a real beauty...it was only $30, but in horrible shape!  Scratched to high heck, not to mention it stunk like crazy!  I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to get rid of that stench!!  So, in my true fashion, I grabbed all my trusty spray paint and went to town!  Here is what it looked like when I brought this lovely home:

I removed all the old hardware and sanded it lightly...then used 2 cans of spray primer and 3 cans of glossy spray paint.  This is how it turned out:

It was in rough shape, and once I started painting, I was wishing that I had sanded it more.  I wasn't able to get all the scratches out as I'd hoped, but the gray color does hide it better...

I bought some hardware at Hobby Lobby and sprayed them a light gold color

Recognize the gold-dipped bowl from Nate Berkus I was drooling over at this post?  Well, I'm still obsessed, and was happy when I realized it would go perfect on this dresser:)

When you hang your TV on the wall, I think it's important to place some piece of furniture underneath it to help anchor it to the ground.  Otherwise, it just looks like the tv is floating on this huge massive wall.

For about $50 total, I think I got a pretty good deal!  Especially considering this dresser is real wood and not the fake stuff!  So don't pass on something just because it is in bad shape and looks pretty rough...its amazing what a little paint can do!

I love it. I did that with a dresser when we lived in Washington and did it a light blue robin egg color and it is my most favorite piece or furniture. I love it. Good job.
