Baskets & Bins

One of the hardest things about mixing kids and home decor, is trying to find a place to store all of the equipment that come with having kiddos!  As much as I would love my house to be clean and tidy every day, that just isn't realistic with 3 little ones running around.  So, for me, the solution to this problem has been baskets and bins!  I think I have a basket or bin in every room in our house...and sometimes more than one!  You can buy the cutest and most stylish baskets at any store now days, so it isn't hard to blend these storage solutions in with your room.  I decided to come up with a little round-up of all the cute b&b's I've seen around lately!

Pin It & Spin It!

I'm so excited to introduce you to Angela from My Silly Life.  She is so sweet and has such a fun blog (and all you moms out there, be sure to visit her darling etsy shop too!)
Each week we have decided to pair up doing this new series.  We will choose a pin from Pinterest as our inspiration and put our own "spin" on it.
We will also feature a different blogger from time to time to participate in that weeks outfit!
So, if you are interested in being featured leave a message in the comments!

Now, on to week 1 of Pin It & Spin It.  We chose this pin as our inspiration this week!

So, I chose a shorter skirt of the same color for the upcoming hot summer months, but still paired it with a fun faux leather jacket that you can still wear throughout the season.  One of the reasons I originally pinned our inspiration picture is because I loved the colors together, so I wanted to be sure to keep those colors in my outfit.  Enjoy!  Be sure to check out Angela's blog and see her spin on her outfit!  Hope you will enjoy following along with us!

Backsplash Reveal!

The backsplash is done!! I am in love...I can't believe what a big difference it makes in our little kitchen.  I ended up going with what I've wanted all along...white subway, white grout.  I'm so glad I did.  It lightens up our dark kitchen so much, and after it was finished, the hubby said, "we should totally paint our cabinets white now!"  Say what?!  Well, ok!  If he insists!:)

Here is what our lovely kitchen looked like before:

And After:

It's a little hard to see in pictures, since there isn't much contrast, but I think that is why I love it so much! I love the clean look

We ended up having one of our neighbors install it for us, and he did an awesome job!!  If anyone needs a good tile guy in the N. Utah area, I have a name for you!

Big Day!

My little 6 year old girly finally got her ears pierced!  I don't know why, but I feel like its a big moment in her little life!  She has been begging for a while for them, but we told her when she is ready to take care of her ears on her own, she could get them pierced.  So, a few weeks ago she came to me and stated that she was ready for this "responsibility"!  So, off to Claire's we went:)
 Pre-earrings!
She had to have support from her favorite aunt Morgan!
 Drawing the dots on....

Getting nervous!

See, not so bad!
She did great!! Hardly even flinched once...man, she is growing up way too fast:(

Faux Animal Heads

I have a new obsession with faux animal heads.  They have been getting more and more popular over the years, and I just can't get enough!  My family thinks I'm crazy, but I keep wanting more!  I found this fun rhino head at Ross the other day for $13, and I couldn't pass it up.  I ended up putting it in our playroom with a little DIY plaque I made for the little rhino.

I sprayed a frame and used wrapping paper as the background, then hung it all on the wall!

The playroom is making progress and is almost done!

I came up with a little round-up of all my favorite animals I've been eyeing lately!

Graduation

I hope you don't mind if I talk about my kids for a minute...my little boy just "graduated" from Preschool yesterday, and I'm just feeling so emotional about it all!  He'll be going to Kindergarten next year, just following his sister, and its just starting to hit me that my kids are growing up way too fast.  This fall, I'll have a 1st grader and a kindergartner...and I have no idea how this happened!  I'm feeling sad, proud and emotional all at the same time.  I guess we just have to hope and pray that our kids will become the type of people that we have taught them, and are continuing to teach them every day.  I just feel like once they get in grade school, the time flies.  I'm a little worried for the first day of school in the fall...and don't even get me started on having my little girl in school all day!  Ahhh, the waterworks will be a flowing!!

Here are a few pictures of my guys big night!  Oh how I love his cute teacher, we will sure miss her!

(excuse my scariness...I had strep throat and an eye infection at the same time...it looks good on me! Um, no!!)

Try the Trend: Wedges

I know wedges are not a new trend, in fact, they seem to be in style every single season.  But, I love me some good wedges!  I love how they make me feel feminine without having to suffer in high high heels.  Plus, its not very realistic for me to wear high heels anymore...except maybe to church!  I decided to do a little round-up of some wedges I've been drooling over lately!

Pants: Ross, Vest: TJ, Wedges: Ross (Seychelles brand for $25!)

I am a little picky with the heel hight of my wedges...anything over 3, 4 inches is too high for me.  I can't be spraining my ankle while chasing my kids around! Haha!
